It's All About Relationships

ANOTHER POINT OF VIEW (Marty's thoughts on current issues...)

CELEBRATE!

As we begin a new year we are faced with new opportunities, new challenges, new losses, and new blessings.  It is always a 'mixed bag'.  We have no idea of what is yet to be---we have no control over the events and situations that come our way.  However, we do have choices. Our choice is how we live our lives in response.  New Year's resolutions need to be about choices we can make and have the ability to control.  I hope you will join me in this ONE resolution for the new year.  I choose to praise God in all things.

As the Scriptures tell us, David was a man after 'God's own heart' but, looking at his life, we are confused. He was both an adulterer and a murderer. How could he be a man after 'God's own heart'?  The Psalms reveal the secret and the answer.  David made a vow that he would praise God every day of his life---every day! Not just in the good times or when he felt like it or when he had the time---but every single day of his life.

Our praise and thanksgiving to Him every day is what pleases the Lord!!  David was set apart as unique because of this one reason. There are at least three reasons that we need to practice the sacrifice of praise. First, praise reminds us that God is Lord. He is in all, above all, and over all. He is in control---regardless of how the circumstances appear to us. We need not live in fear. Secondly, praise reminds us that Jesus is the Savior. We can make poor decisions and make a mess of our lives. However, God's grace in Christ can still save us daily. It gives us a new beginning and hope for the future.  Finally, praise reminds us that God is our Redeemer. He is able to take the negative events in our lives and redeem them for His Glory and our growth. Truly, God is Lord, Savior, and Redeemer. Why wouldn't we praise Him every day of our lives? Please join me in making this your resolution---for this year and for every year.
